Machi Sugita solo exhibition “TOMOSHIBI”

Open

2026/7/25 Sat. ~ 2026/9/8 Tue.

Machi Sugita was born in Saitama Prefecture in 2000. She has long expressed an ideal world where "light" created by humans and "signboards" that guide people's paths coexist. In recent years, her interest has shifted toward domestic social issues and "borders" within Japan. By personally visiting various locations, she continues to capture the memories and history of those lands, as well as the relationships between people, flora, and fauna.

Following her previous solo exhibitions held in 2025, "BORDER" and "Standing on the Border, Catching the Reflected Light," her exploration deepens even further in this latest exhibition, "TOMOSHIBI."

This exhibition features a new series of works in which she brings together "fragments of landscapes" encountered during her travels onto single canvases. While re-examining "borders," we hope you will experience the neon lights that resemble hope stretching eternally like a straight road, as well as the underlying realities hidden within that light. We cordially invite you to experience her work firsthand at the venue.
